Step 33 of the Journey: Work and business steps are now decided

Step 33. Slowly cranking up the exercise. I’m getting stronger and coping with more exercise. Daily is the norm, and there have yet to be any exceptions. Now that my health and fitness routine is established and automatic, I shall begin to gradually introduce new habits over the coming days, weeks and months to develop my work and business habits.

Tomorrow is the start of 30 minutes of pure focus on the single most important element of work; no distractions, no emails, no phone, no internet wormholes, just pure focus. Similarly there will be 30 minutes of pure focus on the single most important element of the new business. That’s it. If everything is fuzzy, I’ll still be happy because those steps will have started.

I initially decided on one hour of focus, but I sensibly settled for 30 minutes. It’s very achievable, it will get done and the most important aspect of any first step is simply taking it. By making those slots only 30 minutes, it’s the work equivalent of a 5-minute run. Those two 30-minute slots are in my diary and they will be celebrated once I’ve done them. As they get repeated daily, I will soon build them up, and the potential long-term result is huge.

I’m really liking my strategy. It’s simple, effective, and exciting. It also keeps my focus away from things that would normally derail me and gives me the drive to move forward.

Day 25 of healthy eating done.

Day 33, job done.
