Step 3, the habit continues. The main purpose of my daily articles is to provide a record of my progress over a year, hopefully to inspire and help others as well as myself. This is currently a very simple journal holding me accountable for my choices and actions, and highlighting my step by step approach to achieve major progress. I think it will continue like that, whilst simultaneously reviving my urge to write. I suspect that over the coming weeks and months this journal will feature many links to other articles I’m writing. Just writing something daily is the starting point, and with small steps that writing will become more focused.

My habits are forming. As an example, I’ve decided to lose 6kg to get back to the weight where I feel great and exercise is a pleasure. I could lose it quickly, but it would come back quickly with a vengeance. 6kg over a year in small steps, however, is an average of just over 16 grams a day. The small steps to do that are micro changes in my lifestyle. 16 grams of fat is less than 150 calories. A tiny increase in movement and a tiny decrease in non-essential food (a biscuit, a few peanuts) are all that are needed. As one of my other goals is a certain level of fitness then the micro steps to increase movement fit both of these goals perfectly. Once the steps are in place the goal should be a piece of cake. Or maybe that will be the reward.

Day 3, job done.
