Step 112 of the Journey: Get yourself together
The Year of Responsibility and Small Steps
Step 112. Just like the right small steps can take you to great goals and successes, so the wrong small steps can take you away from them. The key is to spot those wrong steps and make changes. The good news is that the changes only need to be small steps; no major life-changing actions are required. Although I’ve been consistently reading, writing and exercising every single day over the last 112 days, I’ve just noticed that a bad habit has crept in, and that habit is the putting off of some of the exercise, reading and writing until the end of the day: the very end of the day. It’s as if those things have almost become an afterthought. The great thing is that I have still been doing them. But last night brought it to a head. I was quickly doing my arm exercises at 11 o’clock at night and ended up going to bed in the early hours of this morning.
So, today is turnaround day. Let’s get the good habits happening at the right time. Start the day with those key things and feel satisfied for the rest of today. Although I woke up tired, I managed to read, do my grip shoulder, ab, foot and leg exercises, and take a walk, all before starting work. It’s midday now and I have written. Going forwards I will bring the writing to the early morning routine and enjoy the satisfaction each day of having done it. I now need to turn round my sleep routine and get back to how I was a couple of months ago. Not only did I go to bed early, but I woke up early and felt fantastic. Let’s get that feeling back.
Things will be alright.
Day 112, job done.
